Letting Go
Trees have a thing or two to teach us

The trees
relinquish their leaves,
here, there,
they float unannounced
to the earth.
Frost comes,
untethering all,
leaves drift like snow
into heaps of color.
The barren trees
look on,
proud and graceful
against the wintering sky.
